Sensei Sherman McElwee

Sensei Sherman McElwee began studying karate in 1981, and has been teaching for over 40 years. He is a multiple award winner in various types of competitions.

Karate is a way of life for Sensei Sherman, who fully embraces the idea that the journey of karate does not end when you get your black belt. Rather, it is a never-ending journey.

He also is an avid supporter of the Gift of Life Foundation. Sensei Sherman’s sensei is Kyoshi Eddie Bethea, an eighth-degree (Hachi-dan) black belt. Kyoshi Bethea trained directly with Hanshi Judan Shugoro Nakazato.
